Rob, believe me, if this was truly a legitimate plot with a good chance of success that was thwarted by good intelligence info dug up by our intricate, intrusive, and high priced national security system, I'd be first in line to salute them.
What opens this up for smartass comments is that once again we bumbled across a potential threat and got lucky. Other articles I've read on the likelihood of this plot succeeding seem to indicate the perpetrators failed to understand one fundamental thing - jet fuel isn't explosive. The probably would've created a decent fire but their plans to lay waste to a good portion of the airport were doomed from the onset.
That's not to say we shouldn't be happy these idiots got busted but let's keep this all in perspective.
Terrorists, if they keep their plans simple and don't go around bragging about their plots, have a very good chance of succeeding in this country. Only good in-the-trenches police work, lucky breaks from informers, and the idiocy of the plotters gives us the ability to sometimes interfere with their efforts.
Sorry if I didn't stand up and sing the National Anthem loud enough for you.
