I've been pumped about the messenger mission for some time
There hasn't been a spacecraft to Mercury since Mariner 10 in 1975. I can't wait to get detailed info on the amount of ice in the south pole crater.
Mercury has potential in my view for a manned base which could do scientific research, industrial mining, and serve as a point to locate asteroids and comets that could potentially blindside us from inside earth's orbit.
