The man does have quite a rep in his field, weird name or not.
The concept that the Sun evolved in a dense star cluster relates to an earlier thread discussing the search for the Sun's lost "brothers and sisters," stars that had wandered out into the galaxy from the Sun's original neighborhood of formation.
Looks like that neighborhood was a crowded one before the Sun moved into the galactic suburbs.
