Who is most qualified, and what specifically should be done? I'd love to hear from Raoul on this. The right will snip and moan how the rest of the world sucks and who cares yada yada, but even they know in their hearts that we need to repair the damage.
In my assessment the next Admin should apologize for the Bush Admin's arrogance and unilateralism, but explain that now that we are in this situation we must resolve it as quickly as possible. If this war is still dragging on when the next president takes over (which is 99% likely) we need to set a hard deadline for major Iraqi reforms and reconciliation, or move out and send some remaining forces into an independent Kurdistan.
Next we must show we are about more than war and destruction by leading the world into a new era of clean energy and environmental protection.
There is no one in the public arena who is more qualified for repairing our image than Al Gore. He is deeply respected in Europe and Asia, and would bring our international respect back to the levels seen during Clinton. And anyone who thinks we don't need a fresh start in the Middle East is living on another planet!
