Off Topic » in reply to Double counting, and other errors

The information comes from an authoritative source, IMO

Cantonese is an alternate name for "Chinese, Yue". Seems Ethnologue currently states that the number of speakers in all countries is 54.8 million. This is different from the 71 million speakers that I listed. Don't ask me why they are different. The website was probably updated sometime in the last few years.

Everyone who speaks a particular language is being counted, hence the use of the term "Speakers". But of course including 2nd language speakers would lead to double-counting, unless they are a small minority. So your need to find fault with my photobucket image has been satisfied.
