The other bad story about NASA is the so-called drunken astronauts. It’s hard to believe someone could be so stupid as to drink just before flying in space. I hope we find there’s nothing to the story, or they have been blown out of proportion. That being said.....
I have to admit I’m a teetotaler, and really don’t have an understanding of the draw that liquor has on people. I can’t say I’ve never had a drop, but close to it. I have tried a few sips now and then at the urging of friends, but I have never tasted an alcoholic beverage that tasted any better than the worst tasting cough syrup I’ve taken. It is beyond me why anyone would like that crap. I can’t understand why anyone would ingest something that’s principle effect is to make you stupid and kills brain cells, never to be recovered. You only have so many brain cells to spare, why would you deliberately kill them.
If I were in charge of the astronaut core I would make them stop drinking the day they are assigned to a mission. 12 hours does not seem like a sufficient time to get it out of your system. It’s better that it’s never in your system.

And about the drunken astronauts
