The Shuttle is indeed a very very complex and fragile vehicle.
Being reusable, sometimes it did show some surprising things.
During a DOD flight aboard Discovery in 1990, Casper lost his watch...
The shuttle comes back, gets cleaned (well, normally) and nobody could find his watch.
During its next flight (HST deploy), Hawley appeared in front of the camera and said "Guess what I found???" showing Casper's watch!!
It had to wait the next flight to be found....
