Solve the Isaeli/Palestinian conflict and you will have addressed 90% of the motivation behind violent Islamic fundamentalism.

There are around one billion practicing Muslims in the world today. They're not going to go away anytime soon. The vast majority who practice this religion peacefully coexist with their Christian, Hindu, Jewish and Buddist neighbors. Afghanistan's Karzai is a fundamentalist Muslim. Iraq's Maliki is a fundamentalist. Our friends, the Saudis are fundamentalists. Unfortunately, it only takes a small handful prone to violence to poison the entire well.

The problem with the war in Iraq is that it's motivating more young Arabs to radical, violence-prone fundamentalism. And we've also replaced a secular government with something close to an Islamic theocracy. Instead of tempering the fundamentalist movement, all Mr. Bush has done is stoke the flames of radicalism. We will paying a heavy price for this terrific blunder for decades to come.
