A War movie...a couple of thoughts....

I was watching a newly released movie on cable last night with Mom...called the Great Raid. It was about the Japanese theater of combat and our POW's being rescued from a prison camp somewhere in S.E Asia.

I saw about 30 minutes of the movie, when the US rescue took place. We were kickin' ass until re-enforcement Japanese troops came up behind our boys. At that point, I told Mom that I was done...I could not watch anymore of this massacre. I had already seen the Japanese force our troops to watch an execution of 10 POWs as retalliation for one of the men trying to escape, [and being caught.]

The older I become, the more I "get things"...on an emotional level. When our troops came to rescue the POWs, they had to *scream* at our boys to get them to comprehend we were American, and there to save them....

Mom, in one of her more lucid moments, last night, informed me Dad was sent to Nagasaki, after The Bomb. I never knew this. Dad NEVER talked of the war...

Mom hates the Japanese to this day...and I do not say anything to her about it. I let her vent.
I understand Viet Nam is supposed to be quite a resort now.
I will NEVER go there....EVER

Life is brutal.
War is incomprehensible.
