Suborbital vs. "antipodal"

The delta-V required to make a simple suborbital "jump" to space altitudes is rather small (relatively speaking). The requirement to make a jump to the other side of the world is a lot greater (assuming no atmospheric "skipping" tricks), and approaches orbital velocities. I don't know exact numbers.
