The 2004 NASA astronaut selection picked eleven people
to join the astronaut corps.
Two of them are teachers/educators by occupation.

(1) Richard Rorbert Ricky Arnold II (math & science teacher)

(2) Dorothy Marie Metcalf-Lindenberger (Science teacher).

Sorry! Habitable-Zone's own Mary-Anne is unfortunately not listed among them.
(Speaking of Mary-Anne; what's she upto lately? It's been a while since she posted here)

NASA officially calls the two selectees "mission specialist astronauts",
but in reality they are unofficial educator-astronauts by profession,
like Barbara Morgan, and are in haitus from their role as teachers.

Whether the two will ever join Barbara Morgan in space is open to question.
Will they be sent up onbaord the Orion capsules if they go?
