I thought this show was going to be dramatic retellings of classic SF tales, stuff like "Hawksbill Station", "Fondly Fahrenheit", or "Nightfall". Actually, all of these have been dramatized already, but I think you see what I mean. New stories are OK, but perhaps they should be picked from contemporary SF anthologies and collections, not assigned to hack TV writers to develop from scratch. Science fiction demands a certain attitude, point of view, a "head", which is hard to describe, but instantly recognizeable when you do see it.
Good writers can produce good material on SF themes but it still doesn't read like science fiction. But when mediocre writers try it, it just doesn't work at all.
