I think a lot of people lack critical skills because they've never had to fend for themselves. This goes for the dumbest people on welfare to the wealthiest living off family money.

If somebody is always doing something FOR you, you never have to figure it out for yourself. If something goes wrong with something they need, they usually walk away from it rather than find another way to get it. Unlike the crows, they'll call their service man.

Everything comes packaged, everything comes organized. Unless they have engineeer genes, they're lost. Maybe we're breeding self-reliance out of people??
