Just showing up in public would activate not only the more rabid animan-rights folks, but also a lot of middle-America who happen to like dogs. His only chance is the "Gingrich Maneuver" - give some bucks to the Humane Society and PETA, and meet with those people and act truly repentent. He can then be redeemed
