We've heard and read that solar energy and wind power generators
are viable alternatives to nuclear and cola-burning electric power-plants.
I don't disput that the sun and wind can play a useful part in beefing
up the world's total electric power output, but I think that
a new paradigm has to be explored as well.
Wind is fickle, the sun's energy has its obvious limitations.
But wave power has been sorely neglected.
In ice-free coastal regions [like California] the ocean is rarely
mirror placid. There is ocean wave activity, winds or no winds nearby, nearly all year round, 24/7, even if it is slight wave 'chop'...
Engineers have ignored this energy source because the waves
do not maintain a consistent [steady] wave frequency to efficiently generate
60 Hertz AC electric current.
I think they have failed to look at the matter thoroughly.
Why not use the ocean wave actions, regardless of shifting amplitude and frequency,
to pump [generate] 'pulsed' DC electric current, possibly using electrical
rectifiers, to spin up and maintain the angular momenta of a battery of flywheels?
The flywheels [and their associate AC dynamos] could generate the requisite 60 Hertz
AC electric current to be fed into the power grid.
True! There would be the drawback of reduced efficiency in energy conversion.
But required energy is still useful energy.
Also, what about all those 'dried up', capped bore-holes oil exploration companies have
left around the world over the past 150 years?
Many if not most of those now capped drill-holes go down thousands of feet.
The differences in temperature [and pressure] between the bottom of those virtually 'dried up' petroleum pockets
1,000's of feet down and the earth's surface can be exploited to generate electricity.
I've only posted some generalizations, ideas that have to be fleshed out and develop these concepts,
but I hope somebody on HZ, or trolling here, will take heed and work on them.
In this present day world we have too much debate, too little action.

Some alternative energy proposals to toss around.
