Also, every galaxy that we have studied emitted light. Light is an energy that I guess your type III would have harnessed, if it was there.

Same holds true in our own galaxy. We know it has dark matter because otherwise there would not be enough gravity to hold it together. I think we are pretty sure there is no type III here, right?
