When I read that post I saw it as simply a fantasy, something that people frustrated with the status quo do from time to time when they're feeling powerless. I'm certain, would you engage the author in conversation, you'd find that he thinks there's a snowball's chance in Hell of anything like that ever coming to fruition.
Secondly, the Daily Kos is a blogging site, not a news organization. They have links to news items but do not claim to be part of our nation's 4th Estate. The opinions of their bloggers are not in any way controlled or should they be. You'll often find posts highly critical of the leadership of the DNC. Hardly what you'd expect out of an organization controlling its members in lockstep.
I'm surprised this one post got you. I'd have thought the one the other day that surmised that the person behind the anthrax attacks was none other than old GWB himself. But then again, maybe that can of worms isn't one you'd want to bring up considering that whole investigation ended up in a massive black hole of governmental incompetence.
Actually, the guy's editorial was compelling if for no other reason pointing out the connection between the first target of the attacks and the Bush family. Seems the guy at the National Inquirer that got the letter and later died just happened to have been the "photo-journalist" that broke the Bush twins drinking scandal and the one that had written quite an expose about the possibility that Jeb Bush had manipulated the Florida election results. It's pretty hard to figure out why any terrorist or even a deranged weapons scientist would go after anyone from a rag newspaper as their first target.
He later pointed out that the attacks on Congressmen just happened to be during the hearings about the Patriot act and the targets were potential and very vocal impediments to its passing.
Now Tom, most reading that get out of it one thing, a bit of political intrigue, a sense of fighting back against the tyranny they see, and a bit of an education about events they might not have ever thought about. I doubt however that many actually go that extra step and take it as gospel truth. I don't because the implication is way too chilling.
But here's the main question all of this brings up. Why do we put up with an administration that can bring out the beast in people like this? In all my lifetime I've never seen such extremes of thought. A huge abundance of conspiracy theories and talk that can be taken as treasonous and seditious doesn't happen during eras when our leadership is calm, reasoned, honest, and open. It's the very nature of the Bush White House that brings out these doubts in folks.
