Yes, just heard the news a little while ago. "Embattled" Attorney General Alberto "You're doing a heckuva job Gonzo" Gonzales has finally resigned.

President George W "I'm doing a heckuva job" Bush displayed his trademark respect for the American people, his profound insight, and exemplary sense of decency in his thoughtful response:

Bush, before leaving Texas to attend Republican fund-raisers, called Gonzales a man of integrity, decency and principle, and said he had reluctantly accepted the resignation, which came "after months of unfair treatment that has created a harmful distraction at the Justice Department."

"It's sad that we live in a time when a talented and honorable person like Alberto Gonzales is impeded from doing important work because his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons," he added.

One could spend hours parsing out the falsehoods, hypocrisy, and arrogance in that statement, but I'll leave that as an exercize for the reader. I'm just happy that Gonzo's gone.
