What's more, when one reads the paper and sees how they calculated fiducial mass to get their final estimated neutrino count - one realizes its more playing games with the mass numbers to arrive at the desired quantity.

Target 49 counts per day, per 100 tons for oscillating neutrinos? Adjust your equation for fiducial mass and viola - 47 counts achieved.

Fiducial mass equations allows them to come up, within reason, with whatever count they wanted to achieve. They estimate they are within 25% uncertainty of estimated fiducial mass. 25% is no minor amount.

Color me very skeptical.
