My plans this year are to upgrade my air conditioning unit to at least a 14 SEER device and to look into a grid-tie photovoltaic system for my house.

I'd love to tell you my motivation is purely to be a good citizen but instead it's almost all financial brought on by this month's $450 electric bill. We can afford it but I'd really like to know, should the economy completely tank, that my monthly bills were as low as they possibly could be.

Bottom line is that being green is an efficient thing for our country. I so wish that would become the rallying cry instead of melting icebergs.
