Katrina and New Orleans.
I can't help but think that New Orleans should be abandoned. The only guarantee one can make regarding the city is that another hurricane will wipe it out completely. The question is "when".
Folks should accept reality. I'm not saying the people should be abandoned, I am saying that no building permits for structures below the flood line should be approved, and people should be helped to move. No aid should be given to anyone who wanted to move to within 100 miles of the San Andreas Fault.
