If you didn't, it would be worthwhile to go over to the PBS website
and check out the TV program, NOVA, topics, etc.
Last night's program was partly on "Global Dimming".
Type in the words "Global Dimming" in your search engine's search window and go from there.
Global dimming is a genuine phenomena....Worldwide, the surface of the
earth has experienced a reduction of solar-photons reaching the surface
by anywhere from 9 percent over Antarctica, 10 percent over North America,
20 percent over Israel & Germany, etc., over a period of 20 to 30 years, recently.
It's because of the soot and particulate matter spewed by jets, motor vehicles,
smokestacks, etc. China and India are now the worst offenders.
Such dimming ironically has held "Global Warming" in check in a climatic tension
'balance'.
Remove the source of "Global Dimming" [alone] and unrestrained "Global Warming" may cause the world's climate to go into imbalance...and then watch that Greenland icecap disappear much more quickly.... Maybe...
I am longer a skeptic that human activity causes or can cause dangerous instabilities
or precarious artificial stabilities in our worldwide climate....
To believe otherwise is like believing that one human being with a tiny explosive cannot, is utterly incapable of causing an avalanche of thousands of tons of snow....
A climate metaphor?
A tiny manmade cause developing into a huge natural effect.
But...I still have some skepticism that
Global Warming may cause major land inundations and disappearances in the future, like Florida or
the Netherlands...I still believe there are natural physical counterbalances in nature
to counteract or prevent rising sea levels by increased water evaporation countering
increasing icecap melting.
I could be wrong, I'm not fanatical about my view regarding Global Warning, like some people with a political agenda...We'll see.
