Just asking a hypothetical question.

That speculation simply reminded me of a story that I heard many years ago from a person that was in a war situation.

The story was that the before the actual shooting war started, the side that had more men and weapons started the shooting war from the front line, by turning their own big gun around and shot it towards their own territory, this then gave the more powerful military force an excuse to start shooting towards the weaker force.
As it turned out the people on the weaker force side were determined to fight to the last man if necessary.
After several years of killing each other, both sides decided that it was not worth the effort and sacrifice of young men and innocent women and children to continue such foolishness.
