That last line, if I remember it correctly, promised intriguing sequel(s). Which in line with Rama should have been a triology. It was everything in 3's, wasn't it? Or sixes? No, 3's. Oh heck, it's been too dang long since I read it! And 10,500 books read since then (OK, OK, a slight exageration.)
