Monterey Pop

Your pic of the kelp forest exhibit at the Monterey Aquarium brought back fond memories, we went to visit the place just a few weeks after it first opened, and went back half a dozen times before we left the state. As much as I love the seascapes of my home state, the California coast is still my favorite. During the time we lived there, tidepooling in Pebble Beach was one of our favorite things, and we explored the coast from San Diego to Vancouver Island, especially the stretch from Big Sur to Marin County. I miss it terribly. It is a national treasure. Do what you can to preserve it.

Speaking of Kelp, I may have made a minor discovery about kelp (see attached essay). I reported it to a California marine biologist friend who corresponded with his colleagues about it, but none had reported a similar specimen. Next time you go to the beach, check it out...
