I feel I'm going to get flamed or blasted by Jeff-F
for reviving Barry-D's panspermia-based concerns/fears.
SBI.
Well, Jeff?...If you think I'm going to get into
the futile (waste-of-time) 'debate' (flame-war)
that you had with Barry-D in years gone by...forget it.
However!...I have a suspicion that Barry-D is laughing
his ass off right now with the last cyberspace blogs and "space news"
with tidbits on Salmonella microbes becoming nastier after a trip into space.
,JPL 'cleanrooms' contaminated by extremophiles,
Rio Tinto's highly acidic waters containing their own hardy bacteria, etc....
Funny thing...Barry never once mentioned the bacteria that survived
inside the Surveyor-3 cable retrieved from the moon by the Apollo-12
crew...that certainly would have strengthened his hypothesis.
Nor did he mention that NASA, some 40 years ago, retrieved living/dormant penicillum
mold spores from an altitude of 127,000 feet [Old Guinness World Record archives]
by means of a sounding balloon...At that altitude, conditions are worse than those on Mars
for microrganisms.
Such info would have strengthened his hypothesis as well.

VOLTAIRE: "Common sense is not so common."
Was Barry DiGreggario at least partly-correct?
