They had the right. And they exercised it. The question is, should they have done so? My one complaint about the INS is that they are a bureaucratic entity with absolutely no sense of mercy. Or conscience. They send the mothers and fathers of US citizens out of the country because they are illegal, thereby also denying the US Citizen the right to live in this country.
If I had $59,000 extra (I'm lucky if I have $59 extra), I'd buy the man a ticket home and hand the $59,000 to him when he arrived and tell the INS it should be ashamed of itself. Granted, he should pay taxes on it but not FICA since he cannot ever draw SS retirement here. On the other hand, at $5.50 an hour, the government should pay HIM taxes--for being a good example. Obviously, the man is a damned hard worker and extremely thrifty. He did without a helluva lot of things in order to save for a better future and the sons-of-bitches in our government have taken it away from him in one fell swoop.
The SOB's (and B'esses) can't even agree on an illegal immigration bill! Maybe we should export our government! Outsource them all to India. Sheesh.
