The Delta II rocketbooster is going the way of the Saturn V.

The Saturn V had a perfect launch record.
It put man on the moon.
And then production of that rocket came to an end.

Then there's the Delta II, argueably the most successful rocketbooster
that NASA has ever used.
Delta II, derived from the Thor missile (first launched successfully in September, 1957),
has been a reliable workhorse for NASA...
Only Russia's Soyuz rocket can claim to have the same level of reliability.

Now NASA is about to cease further production orders for the Delta II rocket.
After 2009, the only Delta II rocket maybe the one gathering cobwebs in an aerospace museum.

:-(

Nuff said.
