Christian Conservatives Consider Third-Party Effort

"Alarmed at the chance that the Republican party might pick Rudolph Giuliani as its presidential nominee despite his support for abortion rights, a coalition of influential Christian conservatives is threatening to back a third-party candidate in an attempt to stop him."

Now, I think they're dumb enough. In Oregon Christians ran a third-party candidate in a gubernatorial election which ensured the election of a Democrat. They didn't like the moderate Republican, John Frohnmayer, one of the finest people I have ever known. John lost a close race. I was proud to vote for him. I happened to know both candidates in that election. The State of Oregon couldn't lose.

And, I think it would be great if fundamental Christians ran their own candidate. Ralph Reed epitomizes their values, he'd be good. He's a proven campaigner, and believes that if God didn't like corruption he wouldn't love the corrupt. Which he does.

Gingrich could be the VP, appealing to those who became too old to sin and then answered the altar call. The third member of the Trinity, or troika, would be the spirit of the Great Ronald Reagan. "What would Ronnie do" would be the bumper sticker.

The Cabinet members would be called "apostles", and as such not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate. The situations in Iraq and Afghanistan would be expanded to include all efforts against the infidels.

I'd give 'em money.
