Question for an Astronomer
Distances to nearby Cepheid Variable stars are determined by parallax. Their period-luminosity relationships are tied to distance this way, so that Cepheid Variable stars much further away can be determined, even in other galaxies. My question is, how is distance to stars, say on the other side of the galaxy, determined if they are not Cepheid Variables?
