Another MiG Defection
In 1979 Soviet pilot Victor Belenko defected to the west by flying his MiG-25 (NATO – Foxbat) to Japan..
Prior to this, the US believed the MiG-25 to be Titanium skinned, but learned it was covered with stainless steel, and had several rusty patches from being crudely repaired with non-stainless sheet metal.
