re: A bit of the history

The war took place after, like Kuwait, the US signalled that the area was outside our sphere of interest. That was taken by the North Koreans as permission.

I'm constantly told how many of the world's problems are due to the interference of American imperialism. It would have been interesting--from a great distance--to see what the last fifty years of history would have been like if the U.S. had decided to "signal" every time that they weren't going to bother if a country outside our borders was invaded, or went to hell in some other way.

That the current North Korean regime is evil is beyond argument by any rational person. What else does someone have to do to be judged as such that is worse than what their leadership has done to their own people?
