The more snow by warming is an old theory. My professor in the glaciology course was a world expert, more than 200 publications and decades on the ice. The class was in the fall of 1988.
We had a long discussion about the various factors at play in the multi-variant system that is glaciers. He pointed out that warming temperatures could result in increased snow fall. Or how increased evaporation creates more clouds which create albedo, thus cooling. In such systems, however, if one variable gets way out of line, strange things happen.
