We don't know if interglacials are characterized by the presence of arctic sea ice. So the recession of the polar ice cap may or may not be normal. Is there any way of knowing? Maybe by taking core samples, to find out how old the polar ice cap is? If it is not older than the Wisconsin Glaciation then we can assume it will disappear in an interglacial period.
