Remember my old saying: Most big questions have simple answers. The reason things get complicated is that the simple answers are often not the answers people want to hear.
It's important to remember that simply getting facts isn't enough, either from the internet or a college library. That's just scholarship. Thinking about the facts, comparing them, and integrating them together is the critical part. And the hardest. In the end, no internet or any other source can do that for us if we aren't willing to do it ourselves.
Plowing through something like Marx, or a major philosophical or scientific treatise, it's easy for even the brightest person to miss any fundamental flaws or premises that might be there. Common sense doesn't get nearly the credit it deserves in the thinking process.
