Dark side = shadow side
If Echo was high enough above the Moon and still lighted by the sun while the Moon surface was in the shadow and the eye wasn't bothered by the sunlit side, then yes....But that is very difficult without a strong telescope (otherwise, the sunlit side would always be in the way).
