I have a Chevy S-10 and have found 300lbs. over the axle works. You can get "TubeSand" by "Quickrete" in 60lb tubes at the hardware store. They are easy to handle and you can store them for the next season. Also you can use a bag to get you unstuck if such luck befalls you. I have 4-wheel drive but I need to get it fixed because it doesn't engage every time. Driving with the sand and in 2wd is doable. Cable chains are always an option... Don't know anything about powertrax.
