Real Life Rail Guns
A new 32 megajoule rail gun is about to be tested. The Navy would like them for ships. There could be lots of space applications. Imagine an ISS that could rail launch garbage to raise its orbit from atmospheric decay. Or launching objects into cislunar or interplanetary space from LEO without upper stages. Or launching volitiles and other materials from the lunar surface. Or deflecting and mining asteroids.
Guys like this kinda stuff. It's why potato cannons are so popular.
