Next election scheduled I believe in 2009. One sooner would be better but not likely.

Funny you wouldn't know McCain had been calling for a surge for about THREE YEARS before it actually happened, along with many generals and ex-generals. Maybe you weren't listening to Rumsfeld's constant insistence that we don't need more troops?
