My Whiskers at his peak. Coolest cat ever...he flew out of a screen window once, ready to take on the neighbors' labrador retriever.
NOTHING phased him...EXCEPT the vet. OMG...what a traumatic experience that was. He bit me on the hand, down to his gum line once at the vet, and the Dr. I called, did not take me seriously when I told her I needed an antibiotic. She called in Tetracycline!
3 days later, I had to go in for my TB tine test (routine for re-upping my Cosmotology license). My hand hurt down to the bone, and a discolored line was creeping up my arm...and it was swollen 3 times its' size. I asked the nurse to look at it. She calmly left and in came my Dr. She told me I was hours away from being admitted to the hospital.
4 days of super antibiotics in the arse later...
I quit taking Whiskers to the vet when he was 12. I informed the Vet of my decision and he agreed. Whiskers was an indoor cat anyway. It would take 3 people to try to console that poor lil duffer...to absolutely no avail. I was afraid he would have a heart attack.
I have had to put down 3 of my cats this year. Moms' cat had diabetes//One had liver failure/One had cancer of the intestine.
I am known as the cat lady in these here parts. Been known to put out heating pads on the front porch in extremely cold weather....along with sleeping bags from them to honker down in. Had the cops called on me for doin' so, too.
Ask me if I give a rats' ass....I'll do it again...and again...and again......
