Did you know there are almost no puns in Spanish?
They do exist, in fact, there is even a word for "pun", retruécano, but puns are so rare I didn't know it existed until I looked it up using Google Translate. Growing up, I was never exposed to puns as humor for their own sake, as they frequently occur in English. The only time I have ever heard them used is as double entendres, usually of a sexual nature, in a joke, especially if the subject of the joke is a fool or ignoramus who misunderstands or mispronounces a sexual term.
Very strange.
