Global Warming Not a High Priority

According to Pew Research polling in Jan 2007:
"Roughly twice as many Democrats as Republicans say that dealing with global warming should be a top priority for the president and Congress this year (48% vs. 23%). However, the issue is a relatively low priority for members of both parties, as well as for independents."

With Republicans their highest priority in order are:
Terrorism
Education
Economy
Illegal immigration
Social security
Health care costs
Stronger military
Crime
Morality
Medicare
Tax cuts
Poverty
Energy
Health insurance
Budget deficit
Environment**
Job situation
International trade
Minimum wage
Govt ethics

In this poll among Reps, Dems, and Indeps, tax cuts are a higher priority than Global Warming. And Global warming ranks around another low priority with all parties, that being International trade.
With Reps and Indeps, stronger military is higher priority than GW. With the Economy and Terrorism ranking near the top among all groups.

Now I suppose if you polled first graders after seeing Al Gore film, the result would probably show Global warming as top priority- and probably invert all these priorities.

Global Warming Ranks Dead Last as Issue with Iowa Democrats in Poll

Washington Post-ABC News Poll
When asked “What is the single most important issue in your choice for the Democratic candidate for president?”, Iraq/War in Iraq 33%, Health Care 26%, Economy/Jobs 10% and Ethics/Honesty/Corruption In Government 5%. Global warming ranked dead last among 16 identified issues with less than 1%. "

It seems that anyone who thinks Al Gore will come to the rescue, if Clinton stumbles is kidding themselves. Instead what Al Gore is doing is riding the money train- apparently his global warming campaign has earned him about 100 million dollars. I say what he is doing is similar to running for office- getting donations but simply pocketing the money. And is doing a similar act that Micheal Moore did- made a cheap film for the campaign season. Though I would say that Gore's film may be less entertaining than Moore's, but Gore is using his political connection to get his film shown in public schools and using his international fame as ex-US vice president, to "campaign" all around the world
