Email purge utility found (of interest to all moderators)

The email server vendor has a utility to clean out old messages. It's a blunt instrument, deleting all messages in all accounts in the Zone post office older than a specified age, period--no way to spare messages you might want to keep. It has a report-without-acting mode, which I ran to get a handle on the dimensions of the problem. Specifying deletion of messages older than 10 days:

Raoul: 15,568
Nick: 13,055
podrock: 3,209

(Those are accounts which store messages; other accounts are forwarded.)

(Before this draws snarky comments about moderators not paying attention to email, I should point out that the accounts all get buried in spam because addresses are posted publicly, and it's understandable that people would get tired of keeping on top of the spam by deleting it every day. This is my problem, for not having an effective spam filter built into the email server.)

Like I said, deleting old messages is a blunt-trauma all-or-nothing thing, and it happens to everybody's mailbox. All for one, one for all...so I wanted to run this by y'all before I nuke 30,000 emails. I could make the age more or less than 10 days if you think that's best.

podrock, I wish I'd found this utility before. Given the fact that all accounts will receive a roughly equal volume of spam, it looks like you've gone to the trouble of deleting about 10,000 messages by hand. Whoa! I'm sorry!
