Gillian Gibbons, a UK teacher working in Sudan has been sentenced to 15 days in a Khatoum prison because her class named a teddy bear “Muhammad” After Friday prayers, thousands of Sudanese protested because the sentence was too light, many of them want her executed, the more moderate merely want her whipped to an inch of her life.

What is wrong with these people?
Last year they erupted over a few cartoons, burned churches and murdered a nun; now they want to kill a teacher because of a stuffed toy. In fact, it wasn’t even her idea to call the bear Muhammad, it was chosen by one of the pupils who wanted the toy to have the same name as he has.

The Sudanese Embassy in London said the situation was a "storm in a teacup". And that “the incident was based on a cultural misunderstanding.” Some kind of understatement there. We could cut off their aid and any trade until they apologize, blockade their ports and airspace to prevent them trading with the Chinese, and generally piss on their parade. Failing that, I suggets a mass donation of teddy bears called Muhammad to every Muslim child from Tangiers to Tehran.
