What is a bit confusing and distressing about this.

We are inured to the corruption of the Bush Administration. We expect it.

"No one ever lost money assuming the worst about Bush & Cheney nor underestimating their integrity."

Bowser O'Bowser

The excuse for Bush's using torture is the old "ticking bomb" stuff - "If it will save one American life we are willing to cast away every principle for which many have fought and died" is the credo.

HOWEVER, they then try to use the information gained in these tortured "confessions" in a "trial" to prove guilt.

In a civilized society, if, and that's a big IF, there is the "ticking bomb" problem, then, obviously, the "confession" cannot be used. That's one reason the US rebelled against the King of England. No one can be forced to testify against themself. Especially by torture.

Basic human right. Ignored by the government of the United States.

Shame.
