The lesson for image analysis

The fact that you're still having trouble seeing the camels (and I suspect you're not the only one) is why I thought that the image was a useful example of the pitfalls of interpreting planetary images. In this case we can work backward from the knowledge that we're seeing camels from overhead, and thus rely on the shadows to give us what amounts to a second view, from the side. In the case where we don't know what we're seeing, it's possible to use shadows to work the other way, to reconstruct a feature by the silhouette it casts.

Beside which, that's a beautiful image.
