Size and mass

Just wondering...

Why are the sizes of extragalactic particles larger by two orders of magnitude (and their masses greater by six orders of magnitude) than common interstellar dust grains in our Galaxy?

Why is the mass six orders higher but the size (by which I presume they mean diameter) only two orders of magnitude? If I recall corectly, volume of a sphere is 4/3 pi R^3, so wouldn't the mass be five orders of magnitude greater with a diameter two orders greater? Did someone forget how to multiply magnitudes?

Otherwise, a fascinating idea.
