Y would you take the leap and assemble a laptop from parts when you could buy a assembled one with OS installed, software bundles and warranties all for less than 600 bucks today? I mean, from the box stores like BEST BUY or even RADIO SHACK, they are blowing out the laps at bargain prices with rebates and even some furnish case bags with them. Saw article in PC Magazine on assembling a laptop, but we as being into re-cycling, the clean up nites around town the kids sometimes score laptops and P4 desktops that only require a new bios battery with setup or (HORRORS) a new HDD installed , working off a curbside DELL Dimension P4 now with a 80 GB HDD installed w/XP, don't ever think we bought a new system in the last 10 years or so. Besdies, it builds bonds with the kiddies and harks back to the era of me watching dad swap out the tubes in the old Zenith and take 'em down to PEP BOYS for testing.ahh, the smell of old TUBES and dust off the TV Chassis..............priceless!
