Of course they were a separate sect

but biologically they all sprang from the same gene pool. The difference between Jews and Egyptians today is simply the same kind of separation as we see between the Shiites and the Sunnis. It's a chosen one. The animosity is based more on which knee to pray upon than any true difference in race or other physical traits. Were someone to switch a bunch of babies at birth between Palestinians and Israeli folks those kids would grow up with no ties to the religion or culture of their true parents.

Ultimately the Romans were of the same DNA strain as well as far as I remember of migration patterns of early man.

What I'm trying to say is that it's this nutty reliance on ancient stories and prejudices that causes the animosity we see today instead of any true physical or physiological difference between the various factions. Had the Israelis been a stronger and more populous society than the Egyptians guess who would've ended up the slaves.

Mankind will have truly evolved when we stop blaming children for the sins of their grandfathers and rate people as individuals not by what book they hold holy or what land they occupy.
