Down and up
Looking at the upper left portion of this feature is a "peninsula" and it's clear that there is a deep cliff on the south side of the peninsula where it drops lower around the edge, creating a trench for lack of a better word. But it also appears that the terrain raises higher on the other side of the trench. This is especially clear on the north and east sides of the peninsula.
